The ODBC SDK Used World-wide to Quickly and Easily Build ODBC Drivers and JDBC Drivers
Did you know?

With SimbaEngine SDK, the industry's leading ODBC SDK and JDBC SDK, you can choose to build an ODBC Driver, JDBC Driver, OLE DB Driver, or ADO.NET Data Provider. More importantly, each standardized API is included in the SDK.

SimbaEngine ODBC SDK 7.6

Installation Procedure

SimbaEngine ODBC SDK is the industry's leading ODBC SDK and JDBC SDK, chosen by the world's leading companies for its performance, extensibility and utmost compatibility. Downloading SimbaEngine ODBC SDK from the Web and installing it is a simple process. Windows users will be led through an InstallShield installer, while UNIX users are provided with a single tar file. In minutes, the installation of SimbaEngine ODBC SDK is complete.

Flexible Implementation

SimbaEngine ODBC SDK supports a wide variety of implementations to meet your project/system requirements.

The One-Tier approach enables simplicity, by allowing you to run the resulting SimbaEngine ODBC driver on the same machine as your reporting applications and data store. JDBC is also supported in this configuration with the use of SimbaServer.

The Two-Tier approach allows for performance optimization by placing SimbaEngine and the database on a seperate server from the Client running the reporting applications. In this implementation, the connection between the Client and the Server is made via standard TCP/IP for optimal speed, flexibility and efficiency.

The Three-Tier approach allows even greater performance optimization and flexibility by placing SimbaEngine on a middle tier server.

Features

SimbaEngine ODBC SDK offers a set of test scripts and sample registry files. Features previously reserved for specific SimbaEngine packages are now accessible to all SimbaEngine ODBC SDK users, including:

  • Additional platform support, including support for Windows Vista®.
  • Enhanced sort functionality for increased speed, as well as the ability to sort up to 64 columns.
  • Multi-byte character sets for increased interoperability with Asian character sets by incorporating the following scalar functions modified to deal with character counts instead of byte counts: LEFT, RIGHT, LENGTH, LOCATE and SUBSTR.
  • ADO.NET implementation allowing you to build the most robust and reliable .NET Data Providers that can integrate with Microsoft Office XP.
  • Inclusion of INNER JOIN syntax support. The INNER JOIN feature is defined as being a SQL join enhancement, compliant with the International Standards Organization's SQL92 standards document.
  • Support for a large number of scalar functions.
  • SimbaTestTools, including a Quickstart Template test suite.
  • Enhanced Quickstart Template, functioning with the top Business Intelligence tools and supporting both SQLTables and SQLColumns ODBC calls.
  • The QuickTest tool.
  • Automatic data source updating.
  • PushdownParse Tree support and enhancements.
  • Updated remote administration components (SimbaServer Control Center and SimbaServer ODBC Administrator).
  • SimbaClient for JDBC 2.1, supporting the JDK 1.3.1 and later versions.
